Stokes Bay Seawall: Future Management Plans

Ground Investigation Works 2017

In May 2017, ground investigation works were undertaken along the seawall to confirm the composition of the ageing coastal defence asset. Boreholes were undertaken along the upper promenade, trial pits excavated adjacent to the seawall along the beach and concrete cores extracted horizontally and vertically along the lower promenade. This information will form part of the scoping study.

Scoping Study 2018

A scoping study is currently being compiled which looks at a range of characteristics including land ownership, coastal processes, heritage and archaeology, current coastal defence assets, interdependencies and any constraints and risks along the frontage. This study will outline the requirements to undertake a feasibility study into future management options for Stokes Bay.

Ongoing Maintenance

ESCP engineers are continuing to monitor the stability of the asset and carry out reactive maintenance whilst more detailed investigations are carried out to find the most suitable long-term management option along this frontage.
