A big thank you to everyone who attended our public exhibitions at Anchorage Lodge on the 15th and 16th of January 2015.

Over 220 people attended with and provided valuable feedback on the scheme and arrangements for the construction phase. The responses are greatly appreciated and will help us minimise disruption to the local community while delivering the scheme in the most effective way.

The Exhibition Events

The exhibitions were held in advance of the first phase of construction for the North Portsea Island Flooding and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Scheme. Further information about the construction works can be found by clicking on the following link: Anchorage Park Coastal Defences.

There was a 3D animation on display showing what the new defences will look like. This can be viewed on our YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/EasternSolentCP

A range of documents and drawings detailing the design of the defences were available for visitors to look at, along with the planning application. Each visitor was given a summary booklet to take away. This can be downloaded from the related documents section of this page at the bottom of the main menu bar.

The project team were on hand to assist visitors and answer queries as required on any aspect of the Scheme.

The exhibitions revealed very strong support for the scheme . 94% of respondents said that they fully support it. The vast majority strongly agreed that the exhibitions helped their understanding of the Scheme.

The project will begin with initial site clearance and preparation works in February 2015. This includes the removal of vegetation. Construction works are then planned to take place from April to October this year.
