Storm repairs on Southsea Seafront

During the winter storms of 2013/14, areas of revetment along Southsea Seafront sustained significant damage.

Repairs for the revetment, costing approximately £40,000, around the Blue Reef Aquarium, Southsea Castle & Clarence Beach are currently underway.

The contract for repair was awarded to Colas Ltd, under the Coastal Engineering Minor Works Framework. Works commenced on the 7th July and are due to finish at the end of July.

During the storm period, some of the existing stone was displaced and this is being re-laid. New stone is also being laid in areas where some has been lost to the sea using similar materials to that used prior to the storms.

In addition there will be enhancements made to improve the durability of the repaired areas in future storm periods.
