We have some exciting and glamourous news was received by the ESCP on the 29th June A handful of engineers from the ESCP and Raymond Brown (construction contractors) donned their black ties and ball gowns to attend the award ceremony for the Constructing Excellence South East Awards in London. The result was more than anyone could have believed; an award declaring the Milton Common phase of the North Portsea Island Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Scheme the winner of the ‘Civils Project of the Year’ category.
At the awards they acknowledged the project team’s efforts to minimise the impact of heavy plant and machinery in an environmentally designated area, which is also close to residential properties. The scheme was delivered on time and under budget in autumn 2016.
The ESCP delivered the project on behalf of Portsmouth City Council with the support of Raymond Brown. The judges at the awards specifically identified the decision to combine the coastal defence scheme with the removal of Great Salterns as ‘inspirational’ due to not only the money it saved but also the environmental benefits it helped to produce.
It has been an exciting few days in the office showing off our new award and loving to hear the positive feedback our visitors and other staff members have been saying about it and the work we do for the public. The award is now in our new Portsmouth office to present to staff and visitors.
