Coastal Engineer/Coastal Project Engineer x2 Posts
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Team managing coastal flood and erosion risk.
We are looking for suitable applicants at both the start of their careers and those with experience of managing complex projects. You will require a degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and have a good knowledge of civil engineering procedures.
You will have the opportunity to work and gain experience in a wide variety of roles within the Service. From setting and implementing Coastal Strategies to appraising, designing and supervising the construction of large capital projects and the maintenance of various types of coastal assets along this coastline in an environmentally sensitive way. Existing projects include the design and construction of the next generation of flood defence at Southsea and around the North of Portsea Island.
Relevant experience of coastal management issues is desirable. You will be enthusiastic, environmentally aware and have confidence in your ability to find solutions to problems. Familiarity with computer software applications, including CAD, GIS and digital terrain packages would be an advantage.
