The works will be managed through a NEC Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC).
The site includes a Schedule Ancient Monument (SAM), Portchester Castle, and as such SAM consent has been obtained through Historic England. To support the works an Archaeological contractor has been brought into provide an Archaeological Watching Brief. This will be provided by Pre-Construction Archaeology who have previously supported the North Portsea Island Coastal Defence scheme.
Mobilisation is due to begin on the 18th April, with the work to commence on 24th April and is expected to run for 3 weeks. The Contractor’s compound will in the car park, on the southern grassed area adjacent to the A27 (Southampton Road), as shown below.
