Haslar Embankment Erosion Protection Works

Current Maintenance Activities 2018/19

Haslar Embankment Erosion Protection Works

Coastal flood and erosion defence repair works will start along Haslar Embankment week commencing 11th March 2019 and are expected to take approximately 5 days for completion.

Where is this happening?

The protection works will take place to a 5m long eroding section of embankment.

Why is this happening?

The protection work is required to prevent further erosion of the embankment and subsequent footpath. This primary coastal defence structure protects prime recreational land from flooding and erosion. The maintenance works are funded by Gosport Borough Council.

What happens next?

Norse Commercial Services Ltd. has been appointed by Gosport Borough Council to undertake the placement of rock armour units to the eroding section of embankment, with a start date of Monday 11th March 2019, and works expected to take 5 days to complete.

Works will only take place during daylight hours 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday-Friday.

Access during the works

The majority of the works will be taking place from the footpath and therefore for safety reasons, this section of footpath will be closed for the duration of the works. There will be a signed temporary diversion in place around the works area (please see diversion route below).
